Retablo Nuestra Señora de Valvanera

A picture of Our Lady of Valvanera painted on wood is kept at the Our Lady of Valvanera Catholic School. The painting is by an unknown artist and has more than 200 years. According to tradition, the painting was brought to Coamo from La Rioja, Spain, by don Mateo García. But studies revealed that the wood on which it is paited is native to the Americas and can be found in Puerto Rico.
